Frequently Asked Questions
1. Am I placing a real bid on eBay when I bid through the BattleBids games?
Yes! All bids you place via the BattleBids games will be placed on eBay. All eBay
bidding policies apply just as if you placed your bid directly on the eBay view
item page. For more information on eBay's bidding policies, please read the following:
eBay Rules for Buyers
2. How much does it cost?
There is no cost to use BattleBids for bidding on eBay items! We're 100% free. You
are still responsible for paying the eBay seller for items you win using the BattleBids
games.
3. Do you require my eBay username or password to place bids on eBay?
No. However, in order for eBay to recognize you through our application, eBay must
generate a token for you on our site. From your "My Account" page, there is an option
to generate your eBay token that will allow us to place bids on your behalf.
4. What if I forgot my password or want to change my BattleBids password?
If you forgot your password, you can request that it be emailed to you by going
to this page: Forgot Password
If you are already logged in, you can change your current BattleBids password via
the "My Account" page. Choose the option for "Account Settings" and then the option
for "Change account password".
5. I'm an eBay seller. Can I include the BattleBids games in my auctions?
Yes! Go to the games page and select the game you'd like to include. Once you're
on the game page for the game you want, there is an option to "Get HTML". Select
this button and then copy and paste the HTML that is generated. You can now plug
that HTML into your auction descriptions.
6. Can I bid on any eBay item using BattleBids games?
Any auction that has not ended on eBay is available to play and place a bid via
one of the BattleBids games. An ended auction can still be displayed so that you
can view the bidding history.
7. Do I get anything if I win the game – other than the item I’ve bid on?
You do not win anything extra by using BattleBids. The BattleBids site will keep
track of your bidding stats and we have features on the site where the more you
bid using BattleBids the more games and actions you can use.
8. Can I play different games in different auctions at the same time?
Yes. You can open multiple browser windows and view a different auction in each
window. There will be no conflict between each of the windows.
9. Will BattleBids notify me if someone outbids me?
If you leave the game up and running, you will hear a sound and see an action begin
within the game when a new person bids or increases their existing bid. You do not
need to refresh the game to get it to update.
10. Can I preview the games to see which one I want to play without starting an
auction first?
You can view any auction that has multiple bids on it to get an idea of what the
actions are and how that particular game works. Just go to our games page and hit
the "Play Now" button and then enter an eBay item #.
11. If I decide I don’t want to play the BattleBids game but want to continue
with the traditional eBay bidding, will my bids be knocked out and will I have to
start over?
You can bid via BattleBids or directly on eBay at any point. You can bid or increase
your bid using either method.
12. What are taunts and what are these "actions" you keep talking about?
Actions and taunts are what really makes BattleBids the most fun and entertaining
way to bid on eBay. Each time you place a bid that moves you ahead of someone else
who is bidding on the same auction, the BattleBids game will graphically display
what happens.
For example, in the car racing game, you will be identified in the game as a specific
car. If you take the lead in the auction, your car will pass all other cars that
are also bidding on that eBay item.
The "action" is the method of how the game will display the passing of other cars.
For example, in the car racing game you could choose from an "oil slick" that knocks
the previous high bidder out of the lead or you could choose to "shoot a missile"
to knock the other car out of the lead.
Each one of the BattleBids games has a number of unique actions to choose from.
Make sure you try them all to see how the action in the game will be played out!
Taunts are a further addition to the games. When you pass another bidder, you can
choose a taunt that is displayed within the game. For example, you could say "So
long sucker!" as you pass the other car by using that particular taunt.
